- Airline to offer early morning flights from Kirkwall and Stornoway
- New schedule will give islanders added convenience for mainland travel
- Embraer E170 jet to replace Q400 turboprop between Aberdeen and London City
With effect from Monday 8th January 2018 and to better align capacity with customer demand, Flybe will offer early morning departures from Kirkwall to Aberdeen and Stornoway to Glasgow on flights operated on its behalf by Eastern Airways. These will operate on two mornings a week – on Wednesdays and Thursdays from Kirkwall, and on Mondays and Tuesdays from Stornoway.
The re-timed flights will operate earlier than at present, leaving 40 minutes earlier from Stornoway and 15 minutes earlier from Kirkwall.
In addition, the Q400 turboprop currently operating the Aberdeen to London City service will be replaced by an Eastern Airways’ 76-seat Embraer 170 jet aircraft giving customers the added benefit of a slightly faster flight time.
To facilitate the amended schedules, some minor timing adjustments have been made to Flybe’s overall flying programme – full details at www.flybe.com. Customers with existing bookings will be automatically re-booked and advised via email of their new flight times and, where relevant, the change of aircraft type. This will be actioned in order of flight departure date.
Flybe’s Interim Chief Commercial Officer, Ronnie Matheson comments: “We recently stated that we would be making some positive changes to our schedules. I am pleased that we have now been able to adjust our plans to benefit islanders with early morning southbound flights to mainland Scotland with better, more convenient connections; and for customers using our London City services to and from Aberdeen, faster flight times that together offer the much-needed added benefit of affordable choices.”
