Two guided tours
Visitors can choose between two different guided tours. One will take them along the CANAC 2 national air traffic control centre, from where air traffic overflying Belgium is managed. The second tour takes our guests up in the air traffic control tower for a visit to our meteorological service and straight to the top of the tower, where they can see how Belgocontrol guarantees air traffic safety at and around Brussels Airport.
At various locations on our Steenokkerzeel site, our visitors will receive information about what we do at Belgocontrol. Our staff will provide explanation using ATC consoles that will be set up especially for Open Company Day. Visitors are also welcome to discover our vacancies in the Job Corner. Moreover, Belgocontrol will highlight its major sustainable projects for the future in the framework of this year’s central theme of Open Company Day (Entrepreneurs: at the ready for everyone): technological tools and information for local residents, environmental performances, future airspace vision and urbanism.
Win a helicopter flight
Visitors who pay attention will be rewarded: they can participate in our Open Company Day contest by simply filling out an entry form. Among the right answers, the winners will be drawn at random and our happy few will be invited at a later time for a helicopter flight over the airport.
For obvious capacity and security reasons we can only admit 1,200 visitors on 1 October. That is why members of the public who wish to visit Belgocontrol shall have to register in advance through the Open Company Day website (in Dutch: www.openbedrijvendag.be/belgocontrol or French: www.jde.be/belgocontrol) on Monday 18 September 2017 as from 10 a.m. sharp. At your registration you also get to choose between the two guided tours we offer. Please make sure to have your identity card with you and be fast. Last year the available slots were filled in less than 20 minutes!
If you are among the first ones having completed the registration process, you will receive a confirmation e-mail afterwards, containing practical details such as the time of your visit and how long in advance you will have to be present, parking possibilities and safety regulations. We regret to inform you that children under 12 cannot participate in the visit to the control tower (neither do we provide childcare).
Sunday 1 October 2017 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
